Mon Yough Community Services

Mon Yough Community Services' mission is to foster hope, renewal, healing and wellness for those who face the challenges of mental health, substance abuse disorders and developmental disabilities.

Accomplishments

• Implemented PennMap
• Implemented WRAP training for consumers and staff
• Creation of seat on the Board of Directors for a consumer
• Mission, vision and organization values revised to reflect commitment to recovery oriented services
• As policies and procedures are due for revision they are revised using recovery oriented language
• Created a consumer handbook by consumers
• Supported employment is in place
• Trained staff on "Partnering Skills"
• Staff and consumers have presented recovery model at a variety of conferences

Future Projects

• Agency wide Individualized Service Plan
• Completion of employee performance review with new core competencies

Challenges:

• Assisting staff and consumers to make the culture shift with excitement and commitment
• Finding available financing beyond state and county funds that will support new services
• Cost of training all staff and consumers
• Consumer-run businesses
