Residential Care Services
Residential Care Services, Inc. began servicing the Pittsburgh area in 1983 and now has 10 residential programs consisting of MISA (mental illness and substance abuse) Programs, Group Homes, and Apartment CRR’s. The agency also has a Supportive Housing Program with offices in Shadyside and Bellevue, serving over 200 consumers annually. Our Community Treatment Team (CTT) provides service to 100 consumers within the community. Throughout all of these changes and growth, RCS, Inc. continues its dedication to quality services by doing "whatever it takes" to get the job done.
Accomplishments
- Use of individualized crisis plans
- Incorporated Recovery Principles into New Hire Orientation
- Completed annual Staff Effectiveness and Safety Techniques Training
- Used Recovery Oriented Outcome Measures
- Implemented Recovery Trainings for all staff members
- Annual Recovery Training to the Board of Directors
- Three certified WRAP trainers
- Recovery principles added to all job descriptions
Future Projects
- Complete WRAP overview with all staff members
- Offer WRAP training to all RCS consumers
- Hold monthly internal recovery committee meetings
- Involvement with the RMP Training Project
- Revision of consumer satisfaction survey to include consumer feedback and recovery principles
- Identify additional Recovery Trainings for staff and consumers
- Hold Consumer Focus Groups regarding Recovery Issues
Challenges:
- Time constraints of COE team members
- Funding issues
- Challenges in creating the overall "culture" change within the entire agency (staff and consumers)
