Turtle Creek Valley MH/MR

Turtle Creek Valley MH/MR, Inc. provides individualized services to promote and sustain recovery from the challenges of mental illness, and addictive disorders by working to improve the quality of life for individuals with special needs. We provide recovery-focused behavioral health services for individuals choosing to lead a drug and alcohol-free lifestyle and/or to reduce potential harm associated with substance abuse. We provide a wide range of day and vocational supports to individuals with developmental disabilities including supportive services in developing life skills in the areas of stress management, conflict resolution and family relationships.

Accomplishments

  • Staff received an intensive 80 hour Dialectical and Behavior Therapy (DBT) training. Coping skills, effective interpersonal engagement skills and interventions were highlighted.
  • A Calendar displaying artwork completed by “The Artists of TCV” and featured the Agency Annual Report was designed and distributed.
  • RoadMap to Recovery is being offered across the agency.
  • Provided WRAP classes to consumers receiving services through the Diversion and Acute Stabilization Program and Residential Services.
  • Hired Peer Staff into Enhanced Case Management and Mobile Meds Programs.
  • Designed and provided Consumer and Staff Training for Coping With Distressing Voices and provided an educational webinar through CCBHO for statewide training purposes.
  • Facilitated a Consumer/Family and Staff Listening Circle for agency strategic planning purposes.
  • Redesigned Intake/Access Services for quicker return to services based on consumer feedback in the listening circle

Future Projects

  • Expansion of Rehabilitation Services including Peer Support Services at the Turtle Creek site.
  • A recovery-focused mural will be featured at our administrative offices at 723 Braddock Avenue.
  • A Psychiatric Decision Support Center operated by Peer Staff will offer improved and extended medical support and services at the Cog Outpatient Site.

Challenges:

  • Maintaining valuable staff committed to recovery with current wages and escalating costs of living
  • Having the available staff resources compete with paper/provider demands and the need for intensive training and support to ensure best practice models are learned, implemented and maintained
