CORP Training

Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) training was provided to five COE agencies with 20 people being trained as facilitators. These facilitators will be able to train other Allegheny County residents in the WRAP system.
  • WRAP is a structured system for monitoring, reducing and eliminating uncomfortable or dangerous physical symptoms and emotional feelings.
  • WRAP includes plans for responses from others when symptoms have made it impossible for you to continue to make decisions, take care of yourself and keep yourself safe.
  • WRAP was developed by people who have been dealing with a variety of psychiatric symptoms for years and are working hard to feel better and get on with their lives.
  • AHCI (Allegheny HealthChoices, Inc.) provided training for approximately 20 new WRAP facilitators in late 2005. They are currently designing a plan for training others in WRAP and should be ready to begin training others soon. More information on how to contact them will be issued in future issues.
  • This is one more bold step toward assisting others in Allegheny County find success in their quest for recovery.

Recovery Management Planning is a person-centered care planning tool to assist persons to design an individualized treatment plan. Four COE agencies received RMP training to increase staff understanding and experience while involving consumers in developing their personal Recovery Management Plan (RMP).

Service users learned to understand their recovery process and how to work in partnership with their agency’s staff in facilitating this planning process. RMP focuses on maximizing the consumer’s decision-making and provides some sense of control of their own recovery.
